Dr. Ho served as a Member of the Provisional Legislative Council of Hong Kong from 1996 to 2012 and a Member of the 1st to 4th Legislative Councils of Hong Kong (Engineering Functional Constituency). He was also a Deputy to the National People's Congress of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region for the 10th and 11th terms. He currently serves as Chairman of the Nuclear Safety Advisory Committee of the Guangdong Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station and Lingao Nuclear Power Station. Dr. Ho previously held positions including Member of the Board of Directors of the Airport Authority Hong Kong, President of The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (1987-1988), Founding Chairman of the Council and Member of the Advisory Committee of City University of Hong Kong, Member of the Industry and Technology Development Council and Chairman of its Hong Kong Science and Technology Committee, former Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Hong Kong Council for Academic Accreditation, former Member of the Basic Law Consultative Committee, and former Hong Kong Affairs Adviser.
